2006
five computer-controlled instruments
8 min.

The piece is written for five instruments of the Robot orchestra at Logos Foundation Ghent (originally for Ake, Harma, Piperola, Player Piano and Vibi).

Floating tempo change and metric modulation depending on that induce the impression of slipping slopes on which the instruments’ voices entangle into each other. The music develops from processing an acoustic input by the application of compositional rules. The harmonic spectrum of a sound mixture produced for this purpose affects the melodic progression of the instrumental voices the musical properties of which were configured beforehand. Rhythmics and metrics develop from the superordinate accelerations and decelerations.
